Sy Barry's first ever painted cover for a Phantom comic was destined to compete for top honours in this poll. With 33 years of experience on The Phantom newspaper strips, Sy Barry is perhaps the best known of all Phantom artists. This painting was originally done for Friends of The Phantom and featured as a special trading card in Newsletter #17 (Winter 1998). The exciting action scene painted in oils, was inspired by Billy Zane's portrayal on the big screen. | |||||
